Dear MSNBC colleagues:

We wanted to share some developments with you ahead of our meeting this Sunday.

We have filed for an election with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). Since MSNBC chose not to voluntarily recognize us, we will proceed with an official election to win formal recognition of our union with the Writers Guild of America, East. In conversations with NBC Labor Relations this week, our union was able to reach an understanding with the company to ensure that all of us will have the opportunity to vote in a timely and fair election. It’s possible that a few of us will have to cast ballots under challenge if some of the titles and categories of employees in the electorate are still in dispute next week, but that will not stop us from moving forward (and, again, everyone will get to vote).

We are optimistic we will resolve all remaining issues by next week and then we will work with the NLRB to set a date for our election. Our position is that everyone should receive a mail ballot and if/when people are back at the office, they could make a choice to vote in person as an option – but everyone should have the option to vote by mail. Again, as soon as we have more details, we will share them. We’ll also talk about this process at the meeting on Sunday.

Please RSVP here for the MSNBC Union meeting on Sunday, June 27 at 7pm/ET, where you can learn more about next steps and ask questions. Please RSVP by 4pm Sunday – the link will be emailed before the meeting, but you will only receive a link if you RSVP. Please submit questions by noon ET Saturday.

As we continue this process, we remind you that you can also find more information about the union on our website, including a comprehensive FAQ section addressing some of the talking points raised by management. And be sure to follow our Twitter account for the latest news.

We’re proud to stand together with you and support our colleagues in these exciting times, challenging though they may be. As always, please reach out to any of us on the Organizing Committee if you have any questions or thoughts you want to share.

We’ll see you on Sunday!

In solidarity,
